Item description:

See scan - absolutely perfect condition. Everything is being preserved in its original boxes. This is a scarce group of a Field Marshall's Baton / scepter and a solid silver award plaque to the Chilean former Brigade General and member of the Pinochet's Army Staff Pedro E. Howard Fuenzalida. The marschallstab / feld-marschallstab is 385mm long and 30mm in diameter at the body part and 38 mm where the caps are. It is made out of gold plated / gilted bronze with dark blue velvet with many attached filigree Army stars and Crests / Coat of Arms in gold plate and enamel. The center of the baton has a wooden handle with couple of State Coat of Arms in enamel. Baton weighs about a kilo probably. At one end one of the tops opens with a special cap and has a small secret compartment inside. Towards one of the caps there is a text saying EJERCITO DE CHILE and on the other end there is an inscribed name of the receiver BGL. H.E. FUENZALIDA. The whole baton comes in a special wood box with red velvet and the whole thing is intact. The length of the baton case is 430mm. General Marshall Fuenzalida died several years ago and this group was provided by his relatives for sale. The baton itself is almost identical to the look and feel of a WWII NAZI Marschall stab like the Goering baton or some other similar... The Chilean one was awarded to Fuenzalida during the rule and time of the Chile dictator Augusto Pinochet. ABOUT 25 - 30 SUCH MARSHALL BATONS WERE EVER AWARDED!!! This is the 2nd one ever offered for sale and the 1st one was sold at a British major auction about 8 years ago for the sum of 12,000 pounds. However, the 1st baton that was sold did not come with the special silver service plaque. The baton / sceptre offered at VicMart comes with the original and authentic solid silver service award merit plaque / document, which is made out of a 900 solid silver with inscribed all history and CV of the General in service to the Chilean State. The plaque is 300x280 mm and is attached to a special red velvet display stand and base which measures 360x290mm. This whole piece goes in a special blue velvet box that measures 425x355mm. The plaque probably weighs about 1.5 kilos in solid silver and has some original patina on top. There are 4 stars holding the plaque to the red velvet base and there is also attached a solid 14 karat gold flag / banner of the Army with red enamel at the top of the piece. The text of the service records of the General as well as all the awards, medals and orders he recived as decorations are written in Spanish as follows: Hoja de Servicios del Brigadier General Pedro E. Howard Fuenzalida Ascensos y Destinaciones 1950 Soldado en la Escuela de Infanteria 1950 Asciende a Cabo 1952 Curso de Mecanico de Telecomunicaciones en Escuela de Telecomunicaciones 1952 Curso de Armero Artificiero en la Academia Politecnica Militar 1954 Curso de Oficiales de Transportes en la Escuela de Artilleria 1955 Teniente de Transportes 1955 Batallon de Transportes No.2 1959 Escuela de Montana 1959 Batallon de Transportes No.2 1960 Batallon de Transportes No.2 1961 Regto. The set comes with a COA and lifetime authenticity guarantee. Provenance: EX Juergen Brinkmann collection - author of both "Die Orden und Ehrenzeichen des 3. Reiches", 1976, and "Die Ritter des Pour le Merite 1914-1918", 1981 books. Again this is an absolutely scarce collector piece of military / militaria and probably one of the rarest Army decoration or award one could dream of for a collection or museum.
