Item description:

See scan - perfect condition. This is an extremely scarce and rare Great Britain / Bristish Royal / Imperial Red Cross Society sterling silver medal for the Balkan Wars / balkan War 1912 - 1913 issue with a BULGARIA campaign bar / clasp. Both clasps have great white enamel work, as well as the red enamel at center of the medal. The medal comes with its original ribbon and case of issue. It has been awarded to a Bulgarian doctor and named to Paraskeff H. Lambeff, who served and helped the VAD / Voluntary Aid Detachments Red Cross clinic in Bulgaria during this combat wartime when the Bulgarian Army fought the Ottoman Turkish Empire. there were no more that 20 or 30 English / England nurses and medic staff who served in Bulgaria and I guess no more than 3 or 4 Bulgarian military doctors. So far this is the ONLY such medal known to exist in Bulgaria and the ONLY such piece awarded to a Bulgarian by the British Empire and the Red Cross during the Balkan War. The medal is marked / hallmarked Sterling Silver by Russell I think at back. I've seen couple of times a similar Balkan Wars Red Cross Society medal, but with a Serbia clasp, BUT in Serbia the British Red Cross Society had a much, much greater VAD members. Absolutely scarce and rare militaria / military collector piece and one of the rare British and Bulgarian Red Cross medals.
